A Mindful Moment
Paula Whang-Ramos

The practice of mindful moments increases our awareness of our essential nature over time,
until our entire day becomes a rich tapestry of such moments of conscious awareness
.”
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, p. 72

Our daily meditation practice can help us live more mindfully in the flow of divine grace. In a mindful moment, we stop reliving past events, planning future agendas, and moving from one activity to the next without thinking. Instead, we stop and take a few slow conscious breaths into the mind/body. This simple practice can help us calm the body and refocus the mind into this present moment that is filled with divine blessing and possibility.

Throughout the day, gift yourself many mindful moments. Experience how Wholeness flows through your life right now. Breathe into the incredible sights, sounds, aromas, and energy within and around you. Take time to appreciate all the ways life continues to thrive - in nature, in unexpected inspirations, in a kind word, in a helping hand. When we let our minds open into this mindful moment, then our hearts become receptive to our indwelling clarity, joy, and love, even during challenging circumstances. Set the intention to experience the benefits of your meditation practice overflowing into a life mindfully lived in the peace, wisdom, and grace that we all yearn for and deserve to live today.

Eternal Inner Vistas
Paula Whang-Ramos

"If we don't realize that the origin of that inner peace is within us, we may go back to the shore or the woods
to find it again. Meditation practice is our way of reliably finding mindful awareness wherever we are."

~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O'Brian. The Jewel of Abundance, pg. 125

Recently, I had a lovely picnic on a mountaintop at our local state park. We drove 30 minutes through busy freeway traffic before driving up a 7-mile bumpy, unpaved mountainous road. When we reached the top of the mountain, we had a beautiful panoramic view of multiple mountain ranges and endless blue sky. It was so peaceful that we could hear bird songs from faraway valleys. We sat for hours enjoying the peace of that mountaintop.

Our journey into the inner peace within us can be like this mountainous drive. At first, we may only notice the external noise, energy, and activity of our busy day speeding by us. Then, we learn to use our meditation practice to direct our attention and awareness within, beyond the bumpy thoughts that wind throughout our mind. When the mind becomes quieter, we can rest in the inner peace, love, and wholeness that we are, as emanations of the Source of peace, love, and wholeness.

As our meditation practice deepens, we may also develop a different awareness of our experiences in nature. We can come to realize that the peace, power, and beauty we feel in the presence of majestic mountains and endless shores is really an outer reflection of the inner peace, power, and beauty within us. And, while we can continue to deeply appreciate our time in nature, we also remember that the Source of these experiences is not based on outer geography. The Source of that peace, power, and beauty is accessible within us during and after our meditation, regardless of the physical environments in which we find ourselves. With consistent practice, we can learn to access the power, peace, and beauty of these inner vistas anytime and anywhere in our lives.

Dwell In Divine Prosperity
Paula Whang-Ramos

"Perennial joy or passing pleasure? This is the choice one is to make always."
Katha Upanishad, The Jewel of Abundance, pg. 234

Before we step onto the spiritual path in earnest, our life choices are often made to satisfy the ego mind. We choose people, places, and things that make the ego feel happy and avoid discomfort. Living from the ego mind can provide temporary happiness and peace. It can also leave us feeling never quite whole enough on our own, as the ego constantly seeks inner peace, love, and worth from sources outside ourselves.

As we mature on the spiritual path, we can choose to awaken into the divine prosperous wholeness that indwells us. As individual expressions of the Source of wholeness, we remember that we are already divine, prosperous, and whole. With further practice, we can inwardly access and experience these eternal innate qualities and learn to live from them. We can even live in peace, gratitude, and joy during moments of ego discomfort!

Join me this morning at CSE as we explore how to live from our divine prosperous wholeness. Experience simple and powerful spiritual practices to help us remember and return to the perennial peace, love, and joy that a conscious life in Wholeness offers. Live in divine prosperity now.

Experience Soul Freedom
Paula Whang-Ramos

In between discovering the truth of our being and actualizing it, there is a courageous leap for us to take. That leap is willingness.”
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, p. 42

Through the teachings of Kriya Yoga, we remember that we are limitless spiritual beings, eternal and whole. We realize that we are more than the mortal body/mind and all of its thoughts, memories, and stories of limitation. Once we become aware of our limitless nature, we have a choice to make.

Do we continue to live by the limitations of the ego mind, or do we courageously step into the liberating but unknown territory of the soul? This is not a question that is asked and answered one time in our lives. As a spiritual practice, we live into this question many times throughout the day. When we greet each person, and each planned and unexpected circumstance, we can choose to consciously respond from the wholeness of our soul, instead of ego's fear and perceived lack. And, when we do react from fear and lack, we can make a course correction and choose soul wholeness again. And again.

When we become willing to live from the soul, we embark on the transformational process of awakening. Yes, it requires courage, discernment, and opening to grace as we allow ourselves to be guided by a deeper inner calling. As spiritual practice, any circumstance can become an opportunity to replace limiting mental beliefs with infinite possibilities of the divine Self. With patience, we can learn to mature our consciousness from lack to limitlessness, from fear to faith, and from ego comfort to courageous soul freedom. We can open to the boundless freedom of the soul and experience its innate joy, peace, and love in our lives. Join us at CSE and BLC for Kriya Yoga study. Experience soul freedom for yourself.

Open To Divine Possibilities
Paula Whang-Ramos

Greeting obstacles as opportunities helps us hone our skills of introspection, deep listening, and opening to possibility.”
~Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, The Jewel of Abundance, p. 172

We may think of an obstacle as that frustrating something or someone that we believe is obstructing our ability to get what we want. When we blame our unhappiness on someone or something outside ourselves, we miss a deeper divine opportunity. In yoga, we know that the cause of our frustration is not due to a source outside ourselves. Rather, our frustration is due to our own mind’s attachment to an object or an outcome that was not achieved as we desired. Instead of blaming another, what if there was no blame to place?

Instead, what if we chose to experience perceived obstacles as opportunities to pause, let go of our mental attachments, and open to divine guidance and grace? Our meditation practice can help us realize and release misguided mind stories of attachment and fault-finding. In meditation, we can reclaim our breath, our inner focus, and our inner flow into the indwelling Wholeness that is full of divine possibility. Meditation cultivates increased equanimity, inner clarity, and profound peace. These qualities enable us to detach and let go which, in turn, allows us to see other possibilities with clarity and enthusiasm.

In deeper contemplation, a perceived obstacle can even reveal an unexpected path that turns out to be just what we needed to thrive, prosper, and grow. As we align with Wholeness, we can perceive the wondrous possibilities It holds for us. And, we can welcome perceived obstacles as opportunities to experience even more divine wisdom, joy, and grace in our lives.
