True Contentment

Paula Whang-Ramos

"True contentment does not arise in response to any circumstance. It arises when the mind is calm and the joy of the soul is revealed.

Knowing this, we are reminded to seek happiness where we are most likely to find it - in the temple of superconscious meditation."
~ Yogacharya Ellen Grace O'Brian

How often do we seek contentment outside ourselves? We may think, "I'll be happy when I get that job, or this car, or that relationship." And we may experience temporary fulfillment when our desire is met...Until the next unmet desire arises and we are unhappily yearning for its fulfillment to make us happy once again. In superconscious meditation, we turn our focus within. As the mind quiets, our hearts open into the Source of Life that offers an unshakable peace and wisdom uncompromised and unchanged by any thoughts in the mind or circumstances in our lives. From this deeper Source, we can live our daily lives in the soul contentment that inspires and empowers us from within.

Join us at Blue Lotus Center this Thursday for Living Peace, where we will meditate and explore Contentment as an ancient Yogic practice. Stop and Take a Breath

Paula Whang-Ramos

"Each day the door to spiritual fulfillment opens to us.  Life continually presents us with opportunities to be awake, to love, and to serve."
~ Yogacharya Ellen Grace O'Brian

I notice how easy it is to overlook divine opportunities for spiritual fulfillment when I am rushing to complete my daily tasks. In my wrong thinking, I mistakenly believe that task completion will reduce my stress level, when all it really does is trap my mind in the hamster wheel of realizing even more tasks that call for my attention. The threshold of divine fulfillment is revealed when I STOP moving and simply witness the glory of Life expressing Itself. I can share in the joy of my neighbor, the blue jay, as she splashes in the fresh bath water I prepared for her in the backyard. I am inspired by the power of Life as I notice the tiny new bud emerging from the trunk of a very old jade plant. I can rest in the peace of my old cat sleeping. When we stop struggling and open into the Divine wholeness that flows within and around us, then we can directly experience the deeper fulfillment of grace, love and joy that all seek. Try it for yourself. Stop, take a breath, and notice how Life celebrates through you right now.

Join us at Blue Lotus Center. Meditate in the abundant blessings of Life waiting to shower you with love, peace and joy - right now. Learn ancient, time-tested spiritual practices to help us live from our essential wholeness. Study, meditate, and grow with others devoted to thriving in peace, love and wisdom. Make this the year that we affirm and skillfully live in peace - in our minds, our hearts, our families, our community and our world.

Satyagraha: Remembering 09/11

Paula Whang-Ramos

"Truth (satya) implies love, and firmness (agraha) engenders and therefore serves as a synonym for force. I thus began to call the

Indian movement Satyagraha, that is to say, the Force which is born of Truth and Love or nonviolence."

~Mahatma Gandhi

Worldwide, September 11th is recognized as the anniversary of Satyagraha, the beginning of Mahatma Gandhi's peace movement, more than 100 years ago. Drawing on the philosophy and teachings of Yoga, Gandhi was a living demonstration of the power of Oneness to transform the world's consciousness. In the presence of fear and violence, Gandhi chose peace. In the face of confrontation and resistance from armies and governments, Gandhi led in peace. As he drew his last breath, Gandhi embodied peace. From the essential wholeness that indwells us all, Gandhi advocated for peace. As we remember 09/11 this week, may our hearts open into the spirit of Gandhi's selfless service for the right of all beings to live in peace. Take time in silence and offer prayers of peace for all beings everywhere. And be the change for peace that is still needed in the world today.

Join us at Blue Lotus Center. Practice the same ancient Yogic teachings that inspired Gandhi to live and lead from the peace that indwells us all. Learn ancient, time-tested spiritual practices to help us live from our essential wholeness. Study, meditate, and grow with others devoted to thriving in peace, love and wisdom. Make this the year that we affirm and skillfully live in peace - in our minds, our hearts, our families, our community and our world.

Calm The Mind With Meditation

Paula Whang-Ramos

"The undisciplined will is like a puppy that grows into a dog that destroys the house and the yard. If the same puppy is trained,

it can even be a guide dog, providing great service to its owner. Surrender self-will to the guidance of divine will."
~ Yogacharya Ellen Grace O'Brian

Sometimes new meditators get frustrated when their undisciplined "puppy minds" seem to chase after every stray thought, sound or distraction that arises during meditation. They don't yet know that experienced meditators also have puppy minds! The difference is that the puppy minds of experienced meditators have learned manners to follow the instruction of concentration, instead of tugging on the leash of distraction. Experienced meditators are not surprised when their puppy minds try to wander away. They know how to remain even-minded and nonreactive, as they return the mind to a single point of focus - again and again. As the puppy mind learns to happily follow that inner focus, our entire being is welcomed into the essential peace, love and wholeness that awaits our conscious return.

Meditate with us at Blue Lotus Center. Learn to calm and train your overactive puppy mind in the peace that indwells you now. Blue Lotus Meditation & Yoga Center welcomes sincere seekers from all backgrounds.
